McMahon just completed the design phase for Tootsie Rolls new audio system. The design included a new paging system for the entire building. We also installed a new Aiphone intercom system for the production line.

Located in Cambridge, Ma Tootsie Roll was looking to upgrade their outdated audio system circa 1970’s. Since the system was pretty old things started to not work and it became apparent that the audio system needed updating. McMahon provided an 8-channel Ashly Audio amplifier to route audio to six floors of production space. Working with Tootsie Rolls facilities team McMahon spec’d an amplifier that came equipped with the software needed to route the audio inputs to any or all of the outputs. This allows for routing of any audio source to any floor as needed. Paging was a main concern and needed to include a paging microphone as well as having the phone system tie into the audio so that pages can made from any of the phones throughout the building.

Routing new cable was challenging as the company never sleeps and since they produce food, working over machinery had to be done with the utmost care. Most of the old cable had to be removed. This helped neaten up the infrastructure and allowed room for the new.

On top of providing building wide infrastructure and paging a separate paging system needed to be installed for the production team. This allows the team to notify each other at different points in the production line of things that happen. If there is a problem at one end the other side needs to know when to stop machinery, etc. McMahon installed an Aiphone paging system separate from the whole building allowing simple communications to the necessary people only. The audio system allows for future upgrade paths and further expansion if the company chooses to do so allowing the flexibility to make changes.
